If given the opportunity, most would like to make a lasting contribution, a legacy that says “I was here, I made a difference in this world, my life was important.” Friends of HSI who include us in their estate plans know that they are building a legacy that will help future generations of children, families, and seniors.
Methods of Giving
Legacy gifts can be made from many sources including:
- Will or bequest
- Life insurance
- Real estate
- Gift of cash
- Appreciated stock
- Retirement account, IRA or CD
- Gift annuity
- Charitable lead trust
- Charitable remainder trust (unitrust)
Endowments
An endowment fund founded by generous support of Gerhard E. Schmidt, who was an HSI board member and his wife Sandra was established for frail seniors.
Gary and Sandy strongly felt that the support of frail seniors is critical to the quality of life for us all. As this fund grows from other legacy gifts it will be a permanent source of support for frail seniors and their caregivers.
How can you help: If you are interested in building this endowment there are a number of ways to help. HSI will work to complete many kinds of planned gifts from donors that will help support the needed programs and services for our community of frail seniors.
